Increased performance and efficiency for utilities
Arcus can provide a comprehensive and cost effective service that works in harmony with the internal systems and departments of major utilities. As Severn Trent Water soon found out.
In November 2000 we were awarded a Term Commission to procure and manage the maintenance of their Property and Civil Engineering Assets.
Contract Procurement
Our first task was to make an in-depth evaluation of existing working practices, contracts, and schedules. Then we implemented systems to accurately measure the performance of the Measured Term Contractors.
After analysing the results and identifying weaknesses, we were able to develop the systems and procedures to help Severn Trent increase efficiency and control.
- Developing a reliable maintenance strategy
- Advising on contract selection
- Installing bespoke schedules and contracts
- Recommending contractor evaluation procedures
- Producing tender documentation
- Writing reports and recommendations for awarding contracts
Help Desk
The Help Desk was a vital part of the programme. A single point of contact for the site managers to report failures dramatically reduced reaction times by shortening the lines of communication.
- Managing all maintenance works requests and issuing instructions to the Measured Term Contractors
- Monitoring contractors' performance ensuring they meet the performance criteria
- Highlighting site hazards and the associated health and safety risks
Daily, weekly and monthly reports ensure that Severn Trent Water is totally informed of all activities and their progress.
Contract Management
By taking ownership of the information and reporting structure through the Help Desk, we were able to effectively manage the maintenance regime, in conjunction with Severn Trent Water technicians.
Vital information is generated through weekly and monthly database reports and site audits for Severn Trent to accurately monitor performance and improve site asset management service.
